DESIGNATED
MOURNER
Written by Wallace Shawn
Directed by André Gregory
Featuring Deborah Eisenberg, Larry Pine and Wallace Shawn
THE DESIGNATED MOURNER is a monologue-triptych in which three artist-intellectuals recount their experiences as their once-liberal country sinks into political crisis. A famous poet-intellectual, his daughter, and her husband—people made of very different moral fiber despite their shared highbrow interests—witness the subtle and flagrant transformations of everyday life, public affairs and personal relationships until they finally are dragged into the middle of things themselves. This searing and disturbing drama, prescient of much that occurred during the Bush/Obama years, has been called Shawn’s masterpiece. This is first New York revival is a co-production between The Public Theater and Theater for a New Audience.

AFTER
THE CHAIRS
by David Koteles
directed by Jason Jacobs
Inspired by the Eugene Ionesco absurdist tale, David Koteles’ After the Chairs tells the story of two men, Marc and Richard, alone in a quiet hospital room waiting for what happens next. A visit from friends? The telling of stories? Results from a doctor? A big performance? End of life as they know it? It is a play about family, marriage in sickness and in health, death, drag, drugs and (like the Ionesco play) many, many, many chairs.

THE LOUDEST
SHOW ON EARTH
With Lea Delaria & Maggie Cassella
The Loudest Show On Earth is an exploration of the queer urban existence as seen through the eyes of two of the queerest urbanites to exist since Eileen Warnos and Kitty Carlisle. Lea DeLaria and Maggie Cassella met at Hartford Pride in 1988 and because they’re rageful, opinionated, Italian, dyke comics, they’ve been yelling at each other ever since. And so goes The Loudest Show on Earth. Rageful. Angry. Musical. Funny. And did we mention loud? Many F-bombs will be dropped. Bring the kids!

HELP ME
TO MAKE IT
Written and created by Boo Killebrew, Geoffrey Decas O'Donnell, and Jordan Seavey
Directed by Lee Sunday Evans
Co-created with Lee Sunday Evans and TJ Witham
HELP ME TO MAKE IT weaves together stories about several generations struggling from inside the architecture of contemporary families. As questions arise about fidelity, sexuality, gender, and the myths created to help us comprehend it all, the characters try to make sense of themselves and of familial love. These stories hinge on how personal moments of everyday existence add up to lifetimes of monumental compassion, devastating betrayal, and inevitable transformation.
